AnalogFX has announced the LARYNX, a 37-key analog formant synthesizer built in a first run of just 50 units. The Dutch company designed it as a keyboard evolution of their SER-2020 desktop synth, itself rooted in the architecture of the famously scarce Synton Syrinx. Priced at €1,249 EUR including VAT, it is available now through AnalogFX’s own shop and select retailers.

The voice engine centers on two CEM3340-based VCOs, a sub oscillator, a ring modulator, a noise generator, and a triple CEM3350 filter setup pairing two peak filters with a low-pass filter. A Formant MODE gives instant access to 16 preset human voice formants, while a Chord MODE adds a five-voice digital oscillator layer on top of the otherwise mono or duophonic analog signal path.

On the performance side, the keyboard is velocity-sensitive with channel aftertouch and pairs with AnalogFX’s Touch’n’Bend controller. The synth also includes MPE support, a 16-step sequencer with 16 pattern memories, eight scenes with 16 slots each, an arpeggiator, and a stereo delay. Eurorack users get CV inputs and outputs on the front panel, and rear connectivity covers DIN MIDI in/out, USB MIDI, expression and sustain pedal inputs, stereo line outs, and a headphone output.

The LARYNX is hand-built in Deventer, the Netherlands. More details and ordering information are at analogfx.com/products/larynx.
